Product Description
Our company’s processed and manufactured collimator tungsten blades for CT machines feature high density, high purity, smooth surfaces, and excellent dimensional accuracy. Depending on the material, collimator blades can be categorized into collimator tungsten blades, collimator molybdenum blades, or tungsten alloy blades.
Collimators in medical CT scanners come in two types.
The X-ray tube collimator, also known as the front collimator, is installed in front of the CT X-ray tube and represents the first component through which the X-rays pass. The X-rays emitted from the X-ray tube are conical in shape; after passing through a tungsten device equipped with slits, they are transformed into a fan-shaped beam. Its primary function is to select the slice thickness of the X-rays. By controlling the width of the X-ray beam along the body’s long axis, it enables precise adjustment of the scan layer thickness.
The detector-side collimator, also known as the rear collimator, has slits aligned precisely with each individual detector. This ensures that the detectors receive only rays incident perpendicularly, minimizing interference from scattered radiation coming from other directions.
The slit formed by the collimator is created by a large number of blades evenly distributed; therefore, the tungsten blades themselves—regarding their thickness, flatness, and surface roughness—must meet stringent requirements.
